Steph Spector

A lifelong lover of animals and language, Steph is the Founder and Creative Director of the Karuna Writer’s Residency on Animal Care Sanctuary. Karuna offers two, three, and four-week-long residencies to writers from all walks of life.

Steph has served as Director of Contests and Conferences at Gotham Writers Workshop and Managing Editor of the Roanoke Review. She has also led creative writing workshops at schools and homeless shelters along the East Coast, and has volunteered for a number of organizations including the O, Miami Poetry Festival, the Dr. Robert L.A. Keeley Healing Arts Program at Carilion Clinic, and the Roanoke Valley SPCA. She continues to teach grammar classes and provide proofreading services through Gotham.

Steph grew up in Central NJ where she attended two high schools: Old Bridge and Freehold. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing from Roanoke College. She's fond of reading, writing, juicing, going for walks, R&B, good conversation, and feeding pineapples to pigs. She lives in Mehoopany, PA.
